POST OFFICE & CUSTOMER SERVICE ATTENDANT

Full Time Position (Must be available to work Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.15pm)

The attendant reports through to the Post Office Supervisor and is responsible for providing a high level of service to the community in all aspects of the Post Office, including the Commonwealth Bank service and Council’s Cashier Counter.

 

Qualifications

In order to be able to do this role you must hold:

  • Good reading, writing and communication in English skills;
  • Sound computer skills, including intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Explorer; and
  • A clear national criminal history check must be maintained at all times

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. Turn up to every shift and complete all tasks given to you;
  2. Demonstrated passion for delivering great customer service;
  3. Ability to lift up to 16kg of mail repeatedly and ability to stand up for most of your shift;
  4. Demonstrated ability to handle and process cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS transactions with a high degree of accuracy; and
  5. Demonstrated ability to perform end-of-day balancing and closing procedures with a high degree of accuracy

 

 

ADMIN STORE ASSISTANT

Part Time Position (Must be available to work Monday – Friday 8.00am – 3.00pm)

The Admin Store Assistant reports through to the Admin Store Supervisor and is responsible for completing tasks required for the operation of the Admin Store. 

This position is a traineeship and the successful candidate must be willing to undertake a certificate III in Warehousing

 

Qualifications

​In order to be able to do this role you must hold:

  1. Good reading, writing and communication in English skills
  2. A drivers licence (or ability to obtain)
  3. A forklift licence (or ability to obtain)
  4. A clear national criminal history check must be maintained at all times

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. Demonstrated passion for delivering great customer service
  2. Knowledge and understanding of the Local Council
  3. Ability to organise priorities and meet deadlines
  4. Have the capacity to work effectively as an individual, resolve complex problems and contribute to a team environment

 

JUNIOR RANGER

Full Time Position (Must be available to work Monday – Thursday 7.00am – 4.00pm and Friday 7.00am – 1.00pm)

This position is for a person under the age of 18.

The Junior Ranger reports through to the Executive Manager of Environment and is an entry level position to expose and train the successful employee in the Ranger program.

Qualifications

In order to be able to do this role you must hold:

  1. Year 10 High School Certificate – Desirable;
  2. Drivers Licence
  3. A clear national criminal history check must be maintained at all times.

 

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. Good reading and writing skills;
  2. Be willing to undertake professional ranger training;
  3. Ability to communicate well and respectfully with both indigenous and non-indigenous people;
  4. Ability to work well in a team;
  5. Be willing to set an example in the workplace and in the community by maintaining a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  6. Be at work every day and on time. 

 

PLUMBER’S ASSISTANT

Full Time Position (Must be available to work Monday – Thursday 7.00am – 4.00pm and Friday 7.00am – 1.00pm)

The plumber assistant reports through to the Senior Plumber and is responsible for ensuring that the plumbing team operates efficiently and complete work on time and within Budget.

 

The successful candidate must be willing to undertake qualifications (training) relevant to the position

 

Qualifications

In order to be able to do this role you must hold:

  1. Must have a construction white card or interstate equivalent
  2. A current “C” Class Driver’s Licence must be maintained at all times
  3. Clear National Criminal History Check
  4. Working Safely at Heights ( Desirable)
  5. Certificate II in Plumbing  ( Desirable)
  6. Certificate II in Water Operations (Desirable)
  7. Certificate II in Wastewater Operations (Desirable)

 

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. BAS public housing maintenance experience, or knowledge of the range of housing and housing related services within the community.
  2. Previous Local Government and community experience within a construction environment an advantage
  3. Working knowledge of plumbing would be an advantage

 

 

AGED CARE TEAM LEADER

Full Time Position (Must be available to work Monday – Friday 6.30am – 2.30pm)

The Aged Care Team Leader reports through to the Aged Care Coordinator and is responsible for the supervision and mentoring of staff and the delivery of services to clients.

 

Qualifications

In order to be able to do this role you must hold:

  1. Cert III in Aged Care
  2. Food Safety Supervisor Qualification
  3. Cook’s qualification (desirable)
  4. Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software, including Excel
  5. Clear National Criminal History Check at all times
  6. Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children)

 

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. Experience in working in an Aged Care setting, including client assessment and care planning
  2. Commercial cooking experience (desirable)
  3. Sound supervisory and mentoring skills
  4. Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to create rapport with all members of the Pormpuraaw community, clients and their families, being respectful of customs and cultural beliefs
  5. An ability to work as part of a team and use initiative
  6. Sound client and staff engagement skills

FINANCE TEAM LEADER

(13 month Maternity Leave Contract)

Located in Cairns and reporting to the Executive Manager of Corporate Services the position is responsible for Supporting the Finance Team though:

  1. Preparation of accurate accounting and payroll records;
  2. Producing reports in conformity with Statutory and Council policy requirements;
  3. Policy development, review and implementation, interpretation of legislation and monitoring councils' compliance with all relevant legislation and accounting standards; 
  4. Constructive input contribution on all matters in relation to finance; 
  5. Ensure that key responsibilities are carried out in an efficient and conscientious manner within set time-frames and budget constraints; and
  6. Contribute to workplace health and safety by participation in safe work practices.

The position requires a meticulous person who is able to adhere to PASC's policies and legislative requirements, able to to protect the integrity of PASC's processes and the operational objectives of the Finance Department. 

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you must:

  1. Certificate IV or higher in accounting or similar financial qualifications as well as demonstrated experience working in a similar position;

  2. Knowledge of Local Government Act and Regulations;

  3. Experience in interpreting and implementing relevant legislation and policies;

  4. Experience in strategic planning and procurement services;

  5. Must be able to work with very minimal supervision;

  6. Must be able to take direction and deliver outcomes in a constructive and positive manner;

  7. Effective communication skills;

  8. Ability to work in a diverse team environment;

  9. High level of accuracy and attention to detail;

  10. High level of personal integrity, confidentiality and discretion;

  11. Ability to use accounting software, relevant government software & Microsoft office packages; and

  12. Current police clearance.
