Fishing

Visit Pormpuraaw to experience some of the best fishing in the Cape, with rivers and coastline rich in barramundi, salmon and other prized species. Whether from the beach or boat, it’s a favourite spot for anglers of all levels.

Bird Watching

Good news for birdwatchers: around 170 species inhabit Pormpuraaw’s sea, savannah and wetlands. Populations shift with the seasons as migratory birds come and go. Locals include the crimson finch, star finch, brolga, sea eagle, hawk and jabiru.

Experience the best sunsets on the western side of the Cape as the sky fills with brilliant colours, and enjoy a relaxing stroll along the beach while the day slowly fades into night.
