Workplace Training Officer

part-time Position

Council is seeking a confident, patient and practical Workplace Trainer to support staff across all departments.

You will plan, coordinate and deliver training in areas such as induction, customer service, workplace conduct, communication, WHS and compliance, aged care, and online learning.
You will play an important role in helping staff build skills and confidence in a culturally respectful way.

The successful applicant will have the following:
  • Current C Class driver licence
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience delivering training to adults in a workplace setting (e.g. WHS, aged care, compliance, online learning)
  • Ability to communicate clearly using simple English
  • Strong communication and presentation skill
  • Experience working in remote communities or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (desirable)
  • Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

procurement and contracts officer

Full-time

Join Council and help support the purchasing, contracts, suppliers and store operations that keep services moving.

This role works closely with managers, staff, suppliers and the Admin Store team to help make sure purchasing, quotes, tenders, records, freight and stock processes are completed properly and on time.

Be part of supporting strong governance, good service delivery and practical outcomes for Pormpuraaw.

About the role

Supports Council’s purchasing, procurement, contracts, suppliers and Admin Store operations.You’ll assist with quotes, tenders, supplier records, contract administration, stock control, freight and inventory.

Based in Cairns, with regular travel to Pormpuraaw.

requirements
A relevant qualification in procurement, business or administration

Experience in procurement, purchasing, contracts, finance or administration, ideally including stores management

Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Good communication and recordkeeping skills
Ability to support staff and follow up tasks
Current C Class driver licence
Current Police Check, or willingness to obtain
Willingness to travel to Pormpuraaw
Local government, stores or remote community experience

bakery Retail Assistant 

part-time Position

Do you love the smell of fresh baking, enjoy working with people, and take pride in great customer service? Council is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our friendly bakery team! This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team that delivers delicious food and a welcoming experience to our Community.

Responsibilities

  • Support the baker with daily food preparation.
  • Provide friendly, high-quality customer service.
  • Prepare coffee and beverages (barista experience welcomed).
  • Assist with opening and closing the bakery.
  • Handle cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
The successful applicant will have the following:
  • Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Open Manual “C” Class current Qld Driver’s Licence.
  • Able to pass a National Police Check.
  • A positive attitude, reliablitity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take pride in your work.

Animal Control or Environmental Health Worker

  • Open Manual “C” Class Driver’s Licence.

  • A positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
  • Great if you have
  • Experience in animal control, ranger work or pest control.

  • Queensland Weapons Licence (or willing to get one)

Post Office Customer Service / Cashier

Fulltime Position

We are inviting a positive and motivated community member to join our Community Services team as a Post Office / Cashier Customer Service Officer.

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • This is an important community-facing role that provides friendly, respectful, and efficient customer service at the Post Office, helping community members access essential services.
  • We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable using computers and handling payments, and works well as part of a supportive team.
  • No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. The successful applicant will be reliable, committed, trustworthy, and take pride in delivering a high standard of service to the community.
The successful applicant will have the following:
  • Able to pass a National Police Check.
  • An interest in handling money and transactions (experience is welcome but not essential).
  • A friendly and respectful approach to customer service.
  • Confidence using computers and learning new systems.
  • A positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
  • Administration experience, which would be an advantage but not a requirement.
