Finances
The Council has received unqualified audit opinions since 2012/13 financial year (10 years of continuously achieving this result) and in the 2015/16 financial year Council achieved for the first time all 3 measures of financial sustainability.
It was a great achievement for Council and each year Council will continue to strive to achieve these results.
Sound financial practices underpin the foundations of the way Council conducts business. Council manages its financial affairs in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld) and the Local Government Regulations 2012 (Qld).
Council will maintain a capability to perform all necessary functions to properly collect funds owed to it, to pay monies owed to employees and suppliers and to maintain proper accounting records of all financial transactions undertaken by Council.
Council prepares its annual financial statements in accordance with statutory requirements and to a standard that meets requirements for Council to receive an unqualified audit report at the end of the financial year.
Councillors do not have any discretionary funds at their disposal.
